<i>In vitro</i> Germination and Early Vegetative Growth of Five Tomato (<i>Solanum lycopersicum</i> L.) Varieties under Salt Stress Conditions

In Senegal, tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) cultivation is affected by salinity in many agro-ecological zones. The selection of salt tolerant varieties would be an alternative solution to enhance the production. Thus, germination and growth are studied under axenic conditions for five subjected increasing concentrations NaCl [0, 35, 70 105 mM], supplemented MS/2 medium 30 days. results reveal that negatively affects evaluated parameters. Rodeo Lady Nema have lowest final rates (50%) unlike Mongal variety (55%). These last two a decrease 71.78% 81.28% height stem, respectively, presence at [105 mM] while 70%. Xewel has greatest average number leaves [NaCl 35 (4.95 leaves) (4.77 leaves). records longest taproot length (2.99 cm) (2.25 mM]. Ganila reveals highest secondary roots with, 44.12, 29.25, 4.25 roots. fresh weight aerial (0.055 g) root parts (0.014 dry weights (0.0023 g). allow conclude seem more tolerant, moderately sensitive salt.
